IELTS Preparation Lessons:

Part I:

Lesson 1: Electronic Crime (In this lesson we will hear someone talking about a new type of crime - electronic crime. Then we will look at word families and do some spelling.)

Lesson 2: Vitamin D (In this lesson we are going to look at ways of discussing a topic.  When you are writing or speaking, you can present facts, or you can use your opinion - but how can you tell the difference?  Today we will find out.)

Lesson 3: Company Growth (In this lesson we look at the language of description. We are going to talk about businesses and different ways to discuss economic information.)

Lesson 4: Rising Dollar (In this lesson we are going to be making comparisons and also look at prepositions of time. We will hear from an academic who will talk about the Australian economy and the Australian dollar.)

Lesson 5: Global Warming (In this lesson we will be looking at ways of brainstorming, taking notes and developing ideas. Our topic will be global warming and the environment.)

Lesson 6: Greenhouse Gases (In this lesson we will be looking the language of cause and effect by talking about greenhouse gases and global warming. Plus we will look at the English names of the major countries of the world and their nationalities.)

Lesson 7: Enviro-Loo (This lesson uses an environmental story with a difference to illustrate the types of language needed to describe processes.)

Lesson 8: Crocodile Tourism (In this lesson we look at how to correctly use the relative pronouns, that, which and who and we will also practice linking words when speaking English.)

Lesson 9: ADHD (In this lesson we will talk about acronyms, abbreviations and names. We will also do some vocabulary building.)

Lesson 10: Solar House (In this lesson we are going to look at ways of connecting both simple and complex ideas. One way of doing this is to use conjunctions or words that join.)

Lesson 11: Recounting the Past (In this lesson we will look at ways to talk about something that has happened in the past. Plus we will look at ways to form compound and complex sentences.)

Lesson 12: Carbon Cycle (In this lesson we will look at how to describe cycles and also the use and purpose of phrasal verbs.)

Lesson 13: Under the Sea (In this lesson we will look at when to use indefinite articles like a or an and when to use the definite article the.)

Lesson 14: Junk DNA (In this lesson we will look conditional sentences, or sentences that use the word if.)

Lesson 15: Sea Floor (In this lesson we are looking at adjectives - how you order them and how you use them to compare and describe things.)

Lesson 16: DVT (In this lesson we will discuss how to talk about things in the future.)

Lesson 17: Water and Ageing (In this lesson we will look at some of the features of formal, written English.)

Lesson 18: Salinity (In this lesson we will look at language you can use to describe processes, including transition signals.)

Lesson 19: Weather Report (In this lesson we will listen to numbers and practice saying and spelling them.)

Lesson 20: Torres Strait (In this lesson we will talk about places, locations and directions.)

Lesson 21: Watching Birds (In this lesson we will learn about the continuous tense and practice some sentence stress. )

Lesson 22: Finance Report (In this lesson we will listen to a finance report and learn about numerical data. It is important to be able to understand and describe numerical data using decimals, fractions and currencies. )

Lesson 23: Octopuses (In this lesson we are going to talk about ways to describe appearance, character and behavior.)

Lesson 24: Perfect Siesta (In this lesson we are going to look at intonation - how we use a rising or falling tone of voice to convey meaning. Plus we review the use of the comma.)

Lesson 25: Copyright (In this lesson we will talk abut simple present tense, definitions and technical vocabulary, all the things you need to know and use to write a report.)

Lesson 26: Urban Archaeology (In this lesson we are going to look at classification - how things are sorted into classes or groups. Plus we will practice the pronunciation of final s sounds.)

Part II:

Part II - Lesson 1: Eye Testing  (In this lesson, we are talking about pronouns. We will also have a quick look at homonyms and then take some time to practice using suffixes.)

Part II - Lesson 2: Ginseng (In this lesson we look at different ways to use the word say, plus we will go through some common collocations (English word combinations)).

Part II - Lesson 3: Jarrah Forest (In this lesson we will learn about words that describe spatial relationships or where things are in relation to one another. We will also listen to some proverbs (traditional sayings).)

Part II - Lesson 4: Clouds (In this lesson we will find out all about paragraphs and how they consist of topic sentences, supporting sentences and developing sentences. Plus we will talk about the words we use to describe weather.)
